Inflation instrument
1 · SUMMARY SCREEN States the comparison in one sentence, with total inflation, duration and the annual average.
2 · AFTER SCREEN TO: what the amount is worth in the later year. TO runs 50 years ahead; years after 2026 are projected.
3 · WHEELS Scroll, swipe or use arrow keys. Amount wheels move by 100, 1,000 or 10,000 depending on speed. You can also type into any screen.
4 · LOCKS An orange lock holds its value. A change moves another unlocked value; a year moves to the closest match.
5 · CURRENCY Cycles INR, JPY and USD.
6 · CHART, SIZE AND SOUND The chart shows how prices moved between your two years. On large screens, Size switches between tablet size and phone size. Sound is on from the start; press it in to mute. Phones play the first click after your first tap or finger lift.
7 · SHARE, CARD AND MANUAL Share copies a link that reopens this exact comparison. Card downloads an image of the result.

Method
Equal buying power = FROM amount × TO index ÷ FROM index.
Total inflation = (index ratio − 1) × 100; shown as a percentage below 100%, otherwise as the price multiple. Annual average = (index ratio raised to 1 ÷ years − 1) × 100; a compounded annual rate.
Projection: years after 2026 continue at each currency's compounded average inflation over 2016–2026.
Coverage
INR, USD and JPY. Annual consumer price inflation from 1960 to 2026.
